Design, the Process and the Management
Design, definition:
Design can simply be defined as a strategic approach to creating a plan or resolution for the production of an object or system. Formally; design is described as the specification of an object discovered by an agent in a given environment, using a set of primitive components, subject to constraints, to achieve goals that meet a set of requirements.
With such a broad definition, there can be no universal code or even a unifying institution for designers of all disciplines. This allowed the emergence and development of different philosophies and approaches to the subject.
The person who designs is called a “designer”. The sequence of activities performed by the designer to achieve a specific goal is called the “design process”.
Design philosophies can be regarded as basic and fundamental guiding principles that dictate and define how a designer approaches his practice. In other words, design philosophies lead to design goals, which further guide the design process.
Design process: Previously defined as a sequence of activities performed by a designer to achieve a goal.
The approach to design can be based on various methodologies, including:
KISS: keep it simple and silly, which tries to eliminate unnecessary complications.
IMTOWTDI: there is more than one way to do this, an approach that recommends multiple methods for doing the same thing.
Interior Design: The Process
Short:
Follows systematic and coordinated methodologies; the client’s needs and resources are met to create an interior space that meets project goals, including research, analysis, and the integration of knowledge into the creative process.
8 Phase Process
• Initial Consultation/Programming/Briefing
A good brief will be as detailed and project specific as possible. It will reflect the customer’s requirements, needs and desires. He will determine the budget of works and the scale of project implementation.
• Design Agreement
A contract must be signed between the client and the designer. The contract specifies and describes the scope of work, deliverables, milestones, time frame and duration of the project. This also applies to design fees, payment terms and other legal issues.
• Measurements/Survey
Field measurements are carried out with high accuracy and any inquiries are made.
• Identifying Basic Requirements
Based on the client’s brief and the given space, the client’s requirements and needs should be clearly defined and prioritized.
• Brainstorm and design concept
Achieving a tangible yet original design concept; solving existing problems. Submitting a project for an innovative, creative and functional plan.
It is a collection of 2D/3D drawings, sample photos and graphics that can easily, simply and successfully show an initial design solution that solves existing problems. Project submission for an innovative, creative and yet functional plan that properly demonstrates the idea in a way that the client can understand, visualize and interact with.
• Design Development/Detailing
Preparation of working drawings package/shop drawings in which all technical details are duly clarified and illustrated. Materials, finishes, colors, fixtures, fittings, furniture, etc. detailed specifications for are highlighted and documented.
• Visualization/Preview
Presentation of 3D rendered perspectives to visualize or preview different design elements combined in photo-realistic quality before the implementation stage. Also, the materials, fittings, fabrics, etc. that will be used in the final stage of implementation and execution. Sample boards are provided for you to choose and confirm.
• Budget/Estimate
Bill of quantities, estimated budget, cost analysis; cash flow control, etc. calculated, documented and documented.
Design Management
Short:
It is a business discipline that uses project management, design strategy, and supply chain technology to control the creative process, support a culture of creativity, and build structure and organization for design.
Purpose:
The goal of design management is to develop and maintain a work environment in which an organization can achieve its strategies and mission objectives by creating and managing an efficient and effective system.
The discipline of design management overlaps with marketing management, operations management, and strategic management. Basically, design management plays three main roles: aligning design strategy with corporate strategy, managing the quality of the design output, and developing new ways of user experience.
Design management is reactive and responds to the current business situation by using specific skills, tools, methods and techniques.
Design management requires design management to know where to go, and design management requires design management to know how to get there.
Design managers must speak both the language of business and the language of design.
Interior Design Service:
Service design management deals with the organization of people, infrastructure, communication, and tangible components of a service to improve service quality and improve interactions between the service provider and the customer.
To improve the customer experience. In order to be competitive and attract more customers, the service must be well designed.
