The New Illions
Those were the times when everyone counted the same; thousand, one million, one billion, etc. But this is no longer the case. In fact, few people notice, but not for long. Depending on where you are, it could be a billion billion or a thousand times more.

As you can see in this short chart, the terms billion and trillion occur twice, but have different meanings in Europe and the United States. Obviously, such different meanings of the same terms can (and will) lead to confusion, misunderstandings, and ultimately problems in commerce, science, etc.
When both systems are strongly entrenched for a long time, there is no easy way to come to common definitions now, even if the world wanted it. So what is the way forward? I see only one solution, in principle, the creation of new words that can be accepted by everyone without problems. Since we are all familiar with “..millions” in some way, a new term should combine this part of the words, at least for numbers. A numerical term that uniquely describes a number can be the number of zeros. For example, as shown in the last column of the table, the US billion can be called “Ilion-9”, the European billion “Ilion-12”, and so on. This offer is just one of many possibilities.
The time has come when universally accepted and clearly defined terms are needed to describe the “gazillions” of units of currency floating around the world, not to mention astronomical distances and other multi-million dollar values.
