16 Most Inspiring Famous Failures

In order to be successful in business or in life, I have learned that we must constantly take corrective action. Putting myself on the line day in and day out can be exhausting, especially when things don’t go my way. Therefore, whenever I am faced with a disappointing event or an undesirable outcome, I NEVER FORGET these famous failures:

1. Bill Gates, the founder and chairman of Microsoft, literally changed the world’s work culture in the 21st century by simplifying the way computers are used. He becomes the richest man in the world in the last ten years. However, he dropped out of Harvard University before starting his studies in the 70s. The ironic part is that he started a software company at the time by buying the software technology from “someone” for only $50 (which would soon be Microsoft).

2. Abraham Lincoln, received no more than 5 years of formal education during his life. Growing up, he got involved in politics and had 12 major failures until he was elected the 16th president of the United States of America.

3. Isaac Newton He was the greatest English mathematician of his generation. His work on optics and gravity made him one of the greatest scientists the world has ever known. Many thought that Isaac was born a genius, but he was not! When he was young, he did very poorly in elementary school, so poor that his teachers failed to raise his grades.

4. Ludwig van Beethoven, a German composer of classical music, is regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His reputation inspired and, in many cases, intimidated future composers, musicians, and audiences. Before his career began, Beethoven’s music teacher once said of him that he was “hopeless as a composer.” And during his career, he lost his hearing, but he managed to create great music – a deaf man composes music, no irony!

5. Thomas Edison who developed many devices that greatly influenced life in the 20th century. Edison is considered one of the most prolific inventors in history and has 1,093 US patents to his name. When he was a child, his teacher told him that he was too stupid to learn anything. When he set out on his own, he tried more than 9,000 experiments before creating the first successful light bulb.

6. The Woolworth Company was a retailer that was one of the original five and ten cent stores. The first Woolworth store was established in 1878 Frank Winfield Woolworth and soon became one of the largest retail chains in the world in the 20th century. Before starting his own business, Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store at the age of 21. However, the employer did not allow him to serve any customers because it concluded that Frank was “not of sufficient common sense to serve customers.”

7. Cheers, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. A phenomenal athlete with a unique combination of grace, speed, power, artistry, improvisation and an unquenchable competitive drive. Jordan single-handedly redefined NBA superstardom. Before joining the NBA, Jordan was an ordinary person, so ordinary that he was cut from his high school basketball team due to his “incompetence”.

8. Walter Disney He was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor and animator. Disney, one of the most famous film producers in the world, founded a production company. The corporation, now known as The Walt Disney Company, averages $30 billion in annual revenue. Disney started his business from his home garage, and his first cartoon went bankrupt. During the first press conference, a newspaper editor mocked Walt Disney because he had no good ideas for making movies.

9. Winston Churchill He failed to pass the 6th grade. But that never stopped him from working harder! He persevered and eventually became Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War II. Churchill is generally regarded as one of the most important leaders in British and world history. In a 2002 BBC poll to determine the “100 Greatest Britons”, participants voted Churchill the most important.

10. Steven Spielberg is an American film director. He has won 3 Academy Awards and is among the most successful directors in history. Most importantly, Steven is recognized as the most financially successful filmmaker of all time. As a child, Spielberg dropped out of high school. He was persuaded to return and placed in a class for the learning disabled. He lived only one month and then left school forever.

11. Albert Einstein He was a theoretical physicist known as the most important scientist of the 20th century. He was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect in 1905 and “for services to theoretical physics”. However, when Einstein was young, his parents thought he was mentally retarded. His grades at school were so poor that one teacher told him, “Einstein, you’ll never amount to anything!”

12. In 1947, a year after his contract, Marilyn Monroe She was dropped by 20th Century-Fox because her producer thought she was unattractive and unable to act. That didn’t deter him at all! She continued and was eventually recognized by the public as the most famous movie star, sex symbol and pop icon of the 20th century.

13. John Grisham‘s first novel was rejected by sixteen agents and twelve publishers. He continued to write and write until he became best known as a novelist and author for his works of contemporary legal drama. The media described him as one of the best novelists living in the 21st century.

14. Henry Ford‘s first two car companies failed. This did not prevent him from consolidating the Ford Motor Company and becoming the first in the world to apply assembly line production to the production of affordable cars. It not only revolutionized industrial production in the United States and Europe, but also had such an impact on the economy and society of the 20th century. His combination of mass production, high wages and low prices to consumers launched the school of management known as “Fordism”. He became one of the three most famous and richest people in the world during his time.

15. Soichiro Honda After World War II, he was rejected by Toyota Motor Corporation during a job interview as an “engineer”. He continued to be unemployed until his neighbors started buying his “homemade scooters”. Later, he set out on his own to start his own company. Honda. Today, the Company has become the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer and one of the most profitable automakers, surpassing giant automakers such as GM and Chrysler. With a global network of 437 subsidiaries, Honda designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of products, from small general-purpose engines and scooters to specialty sports cars.

16. Akio Morita, the founder of the giant electrical household products Sony Corporation, its first product was an electric rice cooker, selling only 100 cookers (because it burned rice instead of cooking it). Today, Sony earns $66 billion in revenue and ranks as the 6th largest electronics and electrical company in the world.
