Power Of Words In Politics or State Governance! Business Strategy For Success
Let us see some slogans or sets of words which brought great success to the Congress party in the political movement in post-independence India.
POWERFUL SLOGANS AND SOLUTIONS:
“Jai Jawan! Jai Kishan!” once played a major role in the parliamentary elections, when the burning issue was national security and the need for more food production. “Kharibi Hatoe” was key word in another election. ‘Success to soldiers! Success to Farmers!’, and ‘Drive away Famine!’ are the two sets of meaningful slogans that ensured ‘national security and prosperity’ once and ‘food for all’ on another occasion.
CROWD DRAW INSURANCE:
These slogans played an important role in securing certain benefits for the society as a whole and attracting the voting citizens to contribute their share to win the election.
LOVE OF LANGUAGE:
I would like to cite certain examples from Tamil Nadu, a Southern state in India, where love for the language and adherence to culture is considered duty and discipline. The chief minister of the state will always address the people with a chosen set of phrase.
EXPRESSION OF BLOOD RELATIONSHIPS:
While commanding the attention of his comradeship, the former Chief Minister, Mr. CNAnnadurai, his speech starts with “Unnaithan Thambi” which means “to call you only my younger brother”. His name ‘Annadurai’ itself means ‘elder brother’.
Mr.M.Karunanithi, well-seasoned contemporary politician and the Chief Minister of the state, always addresses his countrymen as “en udan pirappugale” which means “you were born with me” or “brothers and sisters”.
MY BLOOD OF BLOOD:
Mr. MGRamachandran, popularly known as MGR, (film actor turned chief minister) had a strong crowd pull with these words: “en rahthathin ratthhame,” meaning “my blood of blood”.
One of the film directors of Tamil cinema, Bharathi Raja, used to address with the emotional words “en iniya Tamil makkale”, which means “my sweetest Tamil citizens”.
CATCH PHRASE TO CATCH THE PEOPLE:
After that, so many similar things happened in politics; slogans were of great use to the political parties to propagate their policies and programmes. Political parties use selected phrases for and against each other. These words are attractive and meaningful. These phrases are powerful to draw the crowd and bring the required positive or negative results in elections.
CREATED HISTORY:
To give an extraordinary example in Indian-Tamilnadu politics, we can say that the following set of words of a popular film star, Rajini Kanth, came out very strongly against a Chief Minister who allegedly mismanaged the state.
“Antha ammavukku ottu pottal eni antha andavane vanthalum kappatha mudiyathu”, the meaning of this Tamil sentence reads as follows:
“If you vote for that (mismanaged) lady (chief minister), He cannot save us after this, even if God descends.”
The speech of the movie star spread like wildfire and automatically made people work against the wrong Chief Minister. It created a history in the politics of Tamilnadu by turning the total support upside down.
SOCIAL PROBLEM WELL ADDRESSED:
Very recently to replace a non-functional government and to ease the burden of the people, one leading political party offered a series of programs with assurances like ‘work for all’ and also ‘rice for all’ at an unimaginable low price in the public distribution system. “Two rupees for a kilogram of rice” is the slogan that enthralled the people at the lower and middle class level.
In any case, the burning problems of the people must be thoroughly analyzed to find out the most critical one among them.
The most critical problem must be addressed with due care to give extraordinary solutions that make people fully satisfied.
The scheme behind the success of this program is as follows:
PEOPLE > FIRE PROBLEM > GOOD SOLUTION > CATCH WORDS > PEOPLE’S PARTICIPATION > AUTOMATIC SUCCESS!
When an offer is made with selected phrases that are meaningful and powerful enough to attract the people, then the people will look at the importance of the solutions. The result may be that the people themselves will participate in spreading the favorable policies and programs to make it a successful episode.
SUCCESS ALSO COMES IN A SIMILAR WAY IN COMMERCIAL BUSINESS.
Easier, more natural, more automatic and more sure!
See you in the next one!
